How to avoid being SPAM by creating a SPAM-free subject line?
A well-designed subject line not only catches subscribers’ attention, but also avoids your email being delivered to SPAM folder. Just make sure you DO NOT DO anything below:
- Use all CAPITAL letters and punctuation!!??!!??!!
- This does not merely turn your email as SPAM and this looks like yelling at your readers
- Use astounding words i.e. URGENT, EMERGENCY, LAST CHANCE
- Do not be too exaggerative as this will let subscribers down
- Use SPAM trigger words i.e. CALL NOW, FREE, CASH BONUS, SAVE $, WORK FROM HOME, ACT NOW, ATTENTION, AFFORDABLE
- Advertise on subject line
- Use deceiving subject line i.e. “RE:”, “FW”
- This can destroy your reputation and your subscribers will not trust you anymore
Yet, does it mean you can never use “Free”, “Act Now” or “!”? Certainly No.
Although SPAM words can trigger spam filters, your compelling email content can help deliver email to recipients’ inboxes. Clean content, HTML and a reputed email delivery platform facilitate the delivery of email.
A simple and concise subject line can definitely grab subscribers’ attention.
Yet, make sure that you are sending relevant and valuable content to your readers. This is the first step of establishing two-ways communication.
