Using personal email as sender drops email deliverability
Never use personal email, say @yahoo.com, @google.com, or @hotmail.com, as your sender in eDM campaign. Using personal email as sender can drop email deliverability and direct your emails to SPAM folder.
This is because those personal email providers may or already adopt DMARC policies. DMARC means “Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance”. Take one example to explain how DMARC works. Let’s say, you are using UFOSend eDM platform, and use emailmarketing@gmail.com as sender when deliver the eDM to Gmail users. In this case, Gmail will block the eDM or put it to SPAM folder as Gmail can identify the real sender is not emailmarketing@gmail.com, but UFOSend. This is same for other email clients which can identify whether the users really send out email. Once they find out you are not sending email from the sender email address, but claim to, they will red flag your emails as this triggers their suspicions.
To solve this issue, you can use your company email address (or email address at private domain) as sender, for instance, marketing@ufosend.com. Also, adopting email address ending with company domain as sender drives higher open rate as this is more reliable in recipients’ eyes. This is because most of the virus spammers are using personal email address as sender address. Recipients may not open an email from unrecognizable email address for the sake of their online security. By using email address ending with company domain which is recognizable by readers, recipients will be willing to open your email. At the same time, you can build up sender reputation as well as brand reputation using your organization’s email address as sender. If you are still using personal email as sender, change it earlier to boost deliverability.
